Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Thiruttham (the Chrome extension, thiruttham.com web editor, and related services), operated by Midhunan Vijendra Prabhaharan, an individual/sole proprietor (no separate registered company) (“we,” “us,” “Thiruttham”). By using Thiruttham, you agree to these terms.

The service

Thiruttham checks formal written Tamil text for grammar and spelling issues and offers Tanglish (romanized Tamil) to Tamil script conversion, via a Chrome extension and a web editor, plus a typing-speed practice tool. Corrections are generated by a combination of deterministic rules and an AI language model; see our Privacy Policy for how your text is handled during a check.

Accounts

You need a Google account to sign in. You’re responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in secure.

Plans and pricing

• Free: rule-based corrections and Tanglish conversion are free and unlimited. The Free plan includes 5 AI corrections a day; the AI reads the first 500 words of each text and at most 1,000 words a day; the day resets at midnight India time.
• Trial: each account can try Pro free for 7 days, once. You start the trial yourself, from the editor or your Subscription page; it never starts on its own. It covers up to 20,000 AI-checked words and needs no payment details. Pro features end after 7 days, or sooner if its words are used up, and the account is then on the Free plan unless you subscribe. An account that has Pro, or a payment in progress or failing, cannot start one. We may limit how many trials can be started from one network in a day.
• Pro: ₹299/month or ₹2,799/year, billed via Razorpay (UPI AutoPay supported). Pro includes unlimited AI corrections, subject to a fair use of 5,000 new words a day (re-checking sentences that have not changed does not count), texts of up to 10,000 words, every AI suggestion open (the harder spoken-to-written Tamil forms included), and Word (.docx) import and export.
• Founding-member pricing: the first 50 Pro subscribers pay ₹199/month for as long as their subscription stays active. Cancelling ends the founding price: you keep it until the end of the period you have already paid for, and if you subscribe again later you pay the standard price, even while founding places are still open. A failed renewal payment does not end it by itself.

Prices are shown in INR. The price shown at checkout is the full amount charged; no tax is added at checkout (see “Taxes” below).

Billing, cancellation, and refunds

See our separate Refund & Cancellation Policy for the full terms — summarized here: you can cancel anytime from your account settings; cancellation stops future billing but your current paid period remains active until it ends. Purchases are not refundable except in the cases that policy lists (a billing error, a double charge, or a subscription that failed to activate), so try Pro free for 7 days before you pay.

Taxes

Thiruttham is run by an individual and is not currently registered for GST, so no GST is charged or shown on invoices. If this changes, we will update this page before it applies to a new charge.

Your content

You retain all rights to the text you write and submit for checking. By submitting text for a check, you grant us a limited, temporary license to process it solely to generate and return corrections to you — nothing more. See our Privacy Policy for what is and isn’t stored.

AI-generated corrections aren’t guaranteed correct

Thiruttham’s corrections — from both the rule-based engine and the AI-assisted layer — are provided to help you write, not as a guarantee of grammatical or factual accuracy. You’re responsible for reviewing suggested corrections before relying on them, especially for anything official, published, or consequential.

Acceptable use

Don’t use Thiruttham to process content that’s illegal, infringing, or that you don’t have the right to submit. Don’t attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or abuse the service or its rate limits.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You can stop using the service and cancel your subscription at any time.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Thiruttham is provided “as is.” To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and our liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the preceding 3 months.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India.

Changes to these terms

We’ll update this page if these terms change materially, and note the date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
